Greater Fredericksburg

Home sweet home…welcome to Fredericksburg, Virginia! My hometown is a college town, University of Mary Washington, a river town located on the Rappahannock, a unique colonial town, Captain John Smith saw it in 1608, when he sailed up the river to the fall line.  The farm where George Washington grew from grade-schooler to national hero is just a stone’s throw across the river from downtown Fredericksburg.  Fredericksburg was a revolutionary period bustling port of commerce.  Some of the most horrific engagements of the civil war played out in the Fredericksburg streets and surrounding area.

Visit the Fredericksburg Visitor Center and begin your greatest vacation in history.  Take a tour of my town riding a one-horse carriage through the streets of history, a canoe trip down the Rappahannock, numerous off the path adventures, the Arts, spend time at a wine festival and relax.

Fredericksburg is at the apex of the transit hub between Richmond Virginia and Washington, D.C. Take the train to D.C.! Both the Amtack and Virginia Rail Express stop at the downtown rail station. FREDericksburg Regional Transit network provides local, fully accessible transportation for the area.

Lodging is no problem in Fredericksburg…quant B&B lodging, motels and hotels.  If you don’t always agree with your in-laws, alternate lodging is available!

Let me tell you about the health advantages in my town.  Mary Washington Hospital, a teaching hospital, is upper drawer in medical expertise, service, and accessibility.  It’s a magnet to the medical profession and champion’s healthcare for the Fredericksburg region.

Take a look at the school systems both private and public in the Fredericksburg area.  The many quality recreational and family activities, manicured parks, cultural attractions, and civic groups that foster community.

Fredericksburg area offers a wide variety of new construction and existing homes in a wide affordability price range.  Finally, check out the weather almanac for the region and I think you will see why I think my town is a very good place to live, work, relax and play.
